Expression
A new wooden volume is inserted into the apartment; it is now the organizing principle, directing circulation and, through its sleek built-in cabinetry, adding critical storage. The volume’s crisp form plays off the tall rectangular windows. However, this same formwork is elegantly contrasted by the wide, gently curving thresholds. Discretely preserved industrial details like the white-painted ceiling pipes and the steel-framed grid windows remind the occupants of the city’s history.
Impact
